Loggerhead Kingbirds are brown above, darkest on the head, whereas Gray Kingbirds are a uniform light to medium gray on the head and back. Loggerhead also shows a pale band at the tip of the tail that Gray Kingbird does not have. Loggerhead Kingbirds are widespread in the Caribbean but usually do not occur in the U.S.
