Boyd Hill Nature Preserve Raptor Fest
February 1, 2025 @ 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
One of Boyd Hill Nature Preserve’s largest events brings an up-close and personal experience with birds of prey. Raptor Fest returns to the preserve on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 10 a.m.
Experience birds of prey in action while enjoying environmental exhibits, trained raptors in free flight, activities for kids and families, photo opportunities with live birds of prey, bird walks, and more. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Admission is free. Parking is available at the preserve, 1101 Country Club Way S., with a handicap permit only. Additional parking is available at Lake Vista Recreation Center, 1401 62nd Ave. S., and at Lakewood High School, 1400 54th Ave. S., where free shuttles at both locations will take you to the event.
The mission of the event is to support the preserve’s Birds of Prey Program. The preserve is home to 20 birds of prey, or raptors, deemed non-releasable by licensed rehabilitators and carefully vetted to ensure that they can be safely handled and used in educational programs. The St. Petersburg Parks and Recreation Department and the Friends of Boyd Hill Nature Preserve share responsibilities for the birds’ care and well-being. The event raises more than $10,000 and attracts over 5,000 visitors along with dozens of local vendors and environmental organizations.
